The Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) has announced the dates for its annual international Conference 2015, which is scheduled to take place from Saturday 21 – Sunday 22 November 2015 at The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in Marylebone, London.
In a change of timetable from previous years, Gem-A’s Conference 2015 will now take place at the end of November and will allow the Association to co-host the 18th International Federation of European Education in Gemmology (FEEG) Symposium in conjunction with its annual celebration of all things gemmology and coinciding with both organization’s annual graduation ceremonies. Seeking to make the most of both its European and international connections, Gem-A is bringing together the two events to encourage Gem-A members and students from around the world to network and make connections with their European counterparts.
The FEEG itself was set-up in 1995 to create a pan-European gemmology qualification that would be recognized by all bodies and institutions across Europe. Every year the graduates of nine of the top gemmological bodies across Europe can participate, in their own language, in a test on their theoretical and working gemmological knowledge to achieve this European certification. Graduating students of the FEEG qualification are invited to join all FEEG member Association’s in a yearly symposium and graduation ceremony designed to bring together students and budding professional from across Europe.
As part of Gem-A’s ongoing commitment to FEEG, the Association will coincide the annual FEEG Congress with the launch of an updated FEEG website and invite all graduates and congress delegates to form a major part of their annual Conference programme.
Discussing the decision to co-host the 18th FEEG Symposium alongside Gem-A’s annual international Conference, Gem-A CEO James Riley said: “Combining these two events represents a great opportunity for not only our international members and students, but also for our friends in Europe, to come together in a global celebration of the latest in gem and diamond research, analysis and education. Although last year’s Conference will be a hard act to follow, we’re looking forward to putting together another great programme of speakers and events to really excite and inform our audience – and we’re sure having the influence of the FEEG delegation will only improve what the Conference has to offer.”
