CIBJO

CIBJO, The World Jewellery Confederation, represents the interests of all individuals, organisations and companies earning their livelihoods from jewellery, gemstones and precious metals, covering the entire industry from mine to marketplace in the various production, manufacturing, trading and retail centres.

International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA)

The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), a non-profit organization, is the only worldwide body specifically created to benefit the global coloured gemstone industry. ICA was founded in 1984 and is now comprised of over 700 gem industry leaders from mine to market, including miners, gem cutters, suppliers, retailers, trade associations, gemmological laboratories, academia, museums, and more, from 47 countries who are devoted to advancing and promoting the knowledge and appreciation of coloured gemstones.

ICA organizes Mining Tours to important gem producing countries where participants have the opportunity to witness first-hand many important aspect of the gem and Jewellery industry.

Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT)

The Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) is a world-class gemmological laboratory, education and research centre, specializing in the testing and study of natural pearls as a reflection of Bahrain’s ancient pearling history and desire to protect and advance Bahrain’s pearling heritage . DANAT’s expert team of gemmologists supports clients and students from around the world through pearl, gemstone and diamond identification services, as well as teaching a range of educational courses and internationally recognised gemmological qualifications.

As a result, DANAT plays a vital role in upholding public trust in the jewellery and gemmological community. DANAT’s specialist gemmological research and commitment to innovative technologies enable DANAT to make meaningful contributions to gemmological fields of study. 

Established in 2017, under the aegis of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, DANAT is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain. 

DANAT evolved from the Pearl & Gem Testing Laboratory of Bahrain, the first laboratory of its kind in the Gulf region (established in 1990). It is with great privilege that DANAT expands upon the excellent work of its predecessor, enabling an even greater global audience to access and benefit from Bahrain’s gemmological expertise and services.
