Austrian Gemmological Association (Ö.GEM.G.)

About

The Austrian Gemmological Association (Ö.GEM.G.) was founded in 1991 as the successor of the First Austrian Gemmological Association. The non-profit organization is serving in the gemmological field and has a very close cooperation with the state Gemmological Institute of the Museum of Natural History. The Ö.GEM.G. is the only Austrian registered CIBJO Institute, authorized by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, and is thus also under the control of an international umbrella organization of the gem and jewellery industry.

Together with WIFI O.Ö. GmbH in Linz/Austria the Gemmological Academy Linz (Gemmologische Akademie Linz) has been founded which acts as a modern education and training center based on international nomenclature for gems and diamonds. Since the year 2000 - in addition to the national diplomas - the exam for the diploma “European Gemologist” (FEEG) is offered. In a time-span of about 18 months the gemological training provides a well-established basis for the future within the gem and jewelry branch.
